Jean Sutherland is the Vice President, Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy at Empire State Realty Trust. In this role, Ms. Sutherland ensures that the Financial Reporting team complies with the Securities and Exchange Commission’s annual and quarterly reporting requirements for public companies.
Ms. Sutherland has a robust background in the real estate industry. She previously worked at Ernst & Young LLP for over five years in Canada and New York, focusing on real estate, hospitality, construction, and manufacturing clients. She then spent over seven years at WeWork in lease accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting, ultimately overseeing the financial reporting and technical accounting teams as the Global Head of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting.
She received her Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies from Western University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant in New York and a Chartered Professional Accountant in Canada.
