Commercial Observer named ESRT’s Chairman, President, and CEO Tony Malkin and EVP, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer Christina Chiu as part of commercial real estate’s most powerful individuals in the 2023 Power 100 list. The publication’s annual Power 100 list recognizes and honors key influencers who drive the future of the commercial real estate industry.
This year’s list featured honorees from across the country, and highlighted their ability to recognize industry trends, to analyze data, and to use that knowledge to prepare for the future. Commercial Observer cited Malkin and Chiu’s focus on strategic investments, accelerated leasing activity, portfolio modernization, and an enhanced guest experience at the Empire State Building as grounds for their placement on the list.
“Our visitors now bring us a higher income per ticket than we’ve ever had before, and that’s because people are prepared to pay up for the experience since it has improved so much,” Malkin said of the improved practices at America’s #1 attraction. “They’re not waiting in line, and they are not at sunset eight deep. We limit the number of people who come in at sunset so that everybody gets a better experience.”
