A Big Deal: ESRT Announces New Leases in the New Year

Greater New York Mutual Insurance Company joined the tenant roster at the world-famous Empire State Building when they signed on for a full-floor, 52,116 square foot office space this January. GNY was attracted to the “World’s Most Famous Building” for its industry-leading sustainability measures and top-tier tenant amenities. Luxury beauty brand Sol de Janeiro will move in to 57,203 square feet of prime NYC office space at One Grand Central Place, ESRT announced. The beauty brand is a subsidiary of current ESRT tenant, L’Occitane, who recently signed a separate 9,497 square foot expansion and lease term extension on their existing 20,962 space at 111 W. 33rd Street. ESRT announced that Ghirardelli will open its first New York City retail store at the Empire State Building. The store – to be located right next to the entrance of ESB’s iconic Observatory Experience – perfectly complements the building’s variety of food and beverage options for tenants and Observatory guests. Hanover Street Capital signed a new lease for a 12,622 square foot space across a full floor at ESRT’s 250 W. 57th Street this February. Hanover employees benefit from the building’s proximity to Central Park and have access to the newly opened Refresh57, the building’s brand-new wellness amenity with three fully stocked cabanas exclusively for tenants. ESRT announced that current tenant Burlington Stores will expand by 67,865 square feet to bring its total space to 170,763 square feet at 1400 Broadway. This was Burlington’s third expansion with ESRT since their initial lease in 2010. The expansion was named in Commercial Observer’s Deals of the Week, and received additional coverage in Commercial Observer, CityBiz, GlobeSt, BNN, and the Bakersfield Californian.
